New imperialists or agents of change: Chinese migrants in Africa

Ben Lampert

This interview drew on his new book Chinese migrants and Africa’s Development, which is published by Zed and was co-authored with OU colleagues Professor Giles Mohan and Dr Daphne Chang, and Dr May Tan-Mullins from the University of Nottingham, Ningbo. This book is the first to systematically study the motivations, relationships and impact of this migration. It focuses not just on the Chinese migrants but also on the perceptions of, and linkages to, their African hosts.
