Behi is a consultant development practitioner specializing in enterprise, community, and institutional development in rural communities with more than seven years’ experience of working in Guyana, Ghana and Cambodia. Her work involves participatory techniques to facilitate design, raise funds, and implement community led projects, as well as developing and delivering modular training programs in capacity building and organizational development. She has worked with numerous public and private sector donors including The European Union, Conservation International, DfID, The Canada Fund for Development, CUSO and VSO International.
Behi received her MSc in development management from DPP at the Open University in May 2007 prior to which, she was a technical executive in the UK food industry for over twenty five years, working for companies such as H. J. Heinz, Northern Foods, and United Biscuits. Behi has extensive experience in corporate and project management from local initiatives to multi-national programs with a multitude of staff, budgets of several millions and multiple public and private sector partners.
Behi’s interests lie in development interventions through international volunteering, specifically from the perspective of host-country stakeholders. Her PhD will examine, in two country case studies, the relationship between the in-country office staff and their local partners as well as the international volunteers.
