Biography:
Dinar holds an MSc in Organic Chemistry (University of Pune), an MBA in Marketing Management (University of Pune) and a PhD (The Open University Business School). He joined DPP in 2004, working on ESRC funded project ‘Issues involved in diffusion of knowledge through migration of scientific labour in India’. Dinar has conducted significant research on evolution of capabilities in the Indian pharmaceutical industry, particularly impact of IPRs on capability development, innovation management in Indian pharmaceutical firms, and issues involved in organisational knowledge creation, individual learning and knowledge flows.
Currently Dinar is involved in developing two projects; a. analysing impact of financial crisis on overseas foreign direct investment from southern countries and studying agricultural innovation systems in developing countries.
Teaching:
Dinar is currently course team co-chair for a revised version of TU870 Capacities for Managing Development, the postgraduate course on Capacities for Managing Development. He is co chair of TU871 Development: Context and Practice and also involved with U213 undergraduate course on International Development: Challenges for a World in Transition.
Research Interests:
My research interest includes various issues associated with management of knowledge, innovation and development focusing on health industries from developing countries. Other interests include firm level innovation strategies, industrial, science and technology policies and their impact on development.
